One of the reasons why people watch reality TV is to gain a sense of compassion from the situation the people in these shows are in. They find comfort in knowing their predicament in life is the same as "celebrities" and thus they are better off than they initially thought they were.
ReplyDeleteIn the same way that viewers identify and aspire to be like their favorite fictional characters in "soaps", they are consoled by reality TV shows in the thought that they do not live lonely and insignificant lives.
